Researchers from Imperial College London have produced sub-millimetre resolution images of cardiac micro-vessels to improve the evaluation of cardiac conditions and undiagnosed chest pain.
Magdalena Furman, a PhD student in Physics at the University of Warsaw, has been chosen as the APL Photonics 2023 Future Luminary Award recipient, recognising her work opening new pathways for the development of optical technologies.
The spectroscopic tool used by the researchers was extremely sensitive to the nuclear structure, and the ring-opening of the furan manifested itself as the appearance of new absorption peaks.
Following the success of their investigations, the team plan to further investigate the isotope effect on spin properties for their application in spin electronics and quantum emissions.
