Established in 1930, the Library Association of Alberta is a nonprofit, independent, voluntary association serving library staff across the province of Alberta. Our members include librarians, library personnel, library trustees, institutions, and other interested individuals and organizations. We strengthen the library community in Alberta by effectively providing responsive member services, advocating for libraries, and collaborating with partners. The Library Association of Alberta acknowledges that what we call Alberta is the traditional and ancestral territory of many peoples, presently subject to Treaties 6, 7, and 8. Namely: the Blackfoot Confederacy – Kainai, Piikani and Siksika - the Cree, Dene, Saulteaux, Nakota Sioux, Stoney Nakoda, the Tsuut'ina Nation and the Métis People of Alberta. We acknowledge the many First Nations, Métis and Inuit who have lived on and cared for these lands for generations and continue to contribute to our vibrant world today. We are grateful for the traditional Knowledge Keepers and Elders who are still with us and those who have gone before us. We make this acknowledgement as an act of reconciliation and gratitude to those whose territory we reside on and visit.
